Catching up with The Bad Cat

Well the busy Autumn Season is upon us, and as a result I am gearing up for several shows in November and December. Currently I am working on some packaging in the form of pillow envelopes to sell alongside my jewelry in case people don't have small boxes lying around their house to reuse. One thing that I love about making pillow boxes, is that its easy. Trace, cut, fold, glue and voila they are done. The second thing I like is that I can change the paper to fit the seasons or holidays. Buying card stock can be addictive so I need to really calm myself down in the paper aisle.

For my online store I am currently searching for a reasonably priced pillow box in black. I think I've narrowed it down to a selection from Bags and Bows.com. They allow 6 free samples every 3 months. I had already narrowed down the colors and choices that I want. The choices were further reduced when they let me know that certain items weren't available in particular sizes. No biggie, less decisions for me. The samples were sent out via UPS and I received them yesterday. One sample pillow box I received was so large, I could have fit a slice of pizza in it! So I've picked out my tissue paper, ribbon, and pillow box and am all set to order it.

Next up is finding bags for the upcoming shows I will be doing. I've settled on some Apple Green paper bags which are eye catching and inexpensive. I will be using some black tissue paper as well to wrap up baubles. As you can see my signature colors are black and bright green.

For taking payments at shows I've registered with Propay online. I did not choose to get the little card swiper, but will be taking my laptop and processing payments that way. No, the card number does not stay in cookies for those of you who are concerned about that. For $35 per year this seems like a reasonable and cost effective way of taking debit/credit cards. They process Mastercard and Visa, at this low annual rate. If I choose to upgrade later, AMEX is included.

I'm also setting my holiday collection up on 1000Markets. Its in draft mode right now, but once the end of the month comes around I will be rolling out that very small collection. In addition, I will send out one more email campaign for the year via 1000Markets newsletter function. I truly want to use this option sparingly as spamming my customers is not high on my list.

So that's it from The Bad Cat. I think I need a nap.
